Domiciliary (personal) Care
Domiciliary Care, also termed as ‘Personal Care’, can be grouped into 4 main areas:
- Assistance with bodily functions such as oral care, feeding, bathing and toileting
- Care falling short of the above, but still involving physical and intimate touching; activities
such as helping someone get dressed or get out of a bath. - Non-physical care such as advice, encouragement and supervision relating to the above, such as prompting someone to take a bath and supervising them during this.
- Emotional and Psychological support, including the promotion of social functioning, behaviour management, assistance with cognitive functioning.
