Neuro Partners Policy & Procedure Person Centred Approach (PCA)
At Neuro Partners we pride ourselves on supporting people to change their lives positively and regain or sustain their place in the community through bespoke services meeting their individual needs, by teams of people trained in meeting their needs in the manner that suits that person.
Person Centred Approach is more than just service user involvement, it is a way of supporting and working with people that affects the whole culture of a service and everything it does by putting the Service User at the centre of the care and support they receive.
Every person centred service is different, staff are allocated to meet the needs of that person on the Service User’s terms and in a manner they direct. People are not placed in pre-existing service templates and expected to adjust, but rather the service adjusts to them, and staff are trained specifically in serving the individual. Service user involvement plays a large part in the development of the service, how it looks, how it feels and how it operates, and this starts with the Service User being at the heart of the assessment. The first question to the Service User is how can we serve you and what support do you want from Neuro Partners, this opening stage leading the way on personalisation of their support and care.
Staff are selected on the basis that they have the right personalities to meet the needs of the individual service user and want to make a positive difference to those we serve, and then trained from the outset that the service user is at the heart of all we do and making a positive difference to the individual is at the core of what Neuro Partners aspires to achieve everyday.
Neuro Partners’ staff will promote an environment for the Service User which allows the individual to make choices and take control of all aspects of their lives. Being person centred is about listening to and learning about what the individual wants and never assuming you know what a person wants; especially in the essential care, support and intervention planning.
The key for staff to remember is that: The essence of being person centred is that it is individual to, and owned by, the person being supported.
There is no single approach that can be applied to working with someone in a person centred way, and no methodology that exclusively covers all of the process that may be needed in developing a person centred plan, so it essential Neuro Partners staff walk with Service Users through the process of support and not lead them, accepting the Service User’s right not to take guidance.
Neuro Partners entire model is based on the service provided, the staff selection and training is unique to the person we are to serve, these approaches are a core element of all good practice, and should be integral in all delivery of care and support.
This is at the centre of the Neuro Partners Company in all our services and we are a Company dedicated to supporting people to develop their lives, improve their quality of life wherever possible and fulfil their ambitions, aspirations and autonomy; supporting the individual to exercise their rights and maintain their place in their community and within their society. This philosophy is supported by Neuro Partners commitment to the Social Model of Disability.
All Neuro Partners staff are trained in person centred approaches and as a Company we have developed working processes that ensure that we have consulted the individual about their wants and needs, so that the support we provide is meeting these needs.
